Annex Chess Club is honoured to host the 2024 Ontario Open on behalf of the Ontario Chess Association.
The Ontario Open is a Victoria Day institution! Here are the details.
When: Sat. May 18 through Mon. May 20, 2024, rounds at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily (final round 3:00 p.m. Monday);
Where: St. Casimir's Parish Hall, 156 Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto, M6R 2L4
Format: Six-round Swiss tournament
Sections: Crown, U2200, U1800, U1400 based on CFC rating. If CFC rating is not available, other rating systems (FIDE, USCF, etc.) will be considered, using rating calculators where available. You can view the current list of registrants here.
Rating: all sections CFC-rated. Crown and U2200 sections FIDE-rated. All players must have a valid CFC rating or pay a CFC tournament rating fee to participate.
Play-up: Players may play up a section for $20 if within 100 points of the next section.
Time control: 90 min. + 30 sec. increment from move 1
Capacity: 300+
Cost: $110 regular admission. $20 discount for Early Bird, ACC member, Junior (U16) or Senior (60+), to a maximum discount of $40.
