Advanced Chess for Kids - Mondays, 8 weeks, in-person

In this 8-week course, FM Michael Humphreys shows you how to develop and refine your opening skill set, but be prepared!  The development of any skill requires continual practice and effort.  This course is not for the faint of heart! Kids advanced classes are 1.5 hrs. long class is 1.5 hrs. in length and begin at 5:45 PM most Mondays. Classes may be purchased on an a-la-carte basis and attended on that basis, with the Instructor's permission. 

Instructor: FM Michael Humphreys

Students should already be familiar with the concepts covered in our Kids Intermediate Chess course.

Here are the 8 lessons to be covered in this course:

  • Lesson 1: Punishing Opening Mistakes
  • Lesson 2 The Battle of the Tempo
  • Lesson 3: Principles of Hypermodern Chess
  • Lesson 4: Recurring Themes in the Opening
  • Lesson 5: Modern Opening Strategy
  • Lesson 6: Methodology in the Opening
  • Lesson 7: From the Opening to the Endgame
  • Lesson 8: Psychology and Risk Management in the Opening

Class dates are: March 27, April 3/17/24, and May 1/8/15/29. No class will be held on Easter Monday, April 10 or Victoria Day, May 22.
