Hi Marcus:
The opening July 9 post says: “More details, including registration list, coming soon.”
Today (Aug. 5) I couldn’t find a link to any “Pre-Registered Players’ List” anywhere.
Do you have a target date for posting the first list?
Thanks.
Bob Armstrong (Pre-registered)
Hi ACC:
Further to my Aug. 5 Comment above (To which there was no response – this was almost 2 weeks ago), the current Toronto Open post on the ACC website is from July 9. The tournament is now about 2 weeks away.
Also, I note that Rd. 3 of the ACC Relax & Unwind Swiss is on Aug. 20 – the current screen is from July 30. Rd. 2 was on Aug. 13, and the Rd. 2 cross-tables are not yet up.
Is ACC having a problem updating their website? You guys are usually pretty quick……just wondering…..
Bob Armstrong (Pre-registered for Toronto Open)
Hi Bob,
I’ve been away, and was happy to have Keith filling in. We’ll get the cross-tables updated on Monday.
Best,
Marcus
Hi. I have pre-registered for this event. There was an option for $20 to get a CFC membership for just this event, which I did not choose. Is it possible to pay this $20 fee for one time entry on site? Or is this leaving it too late? Thanks!
Hi Jason,
Paying CFC on site is fine.
Best,
Marcus
Could you please confirm when the registration list becomes available for viewing. Also, the registration link does not seem to ask for a CFC membership number, so is it verified at the event (for those who have it)?
Thanks.
I couldn’t find a phone number to call – I just wanted to confirm I’m registered (it’s been over 10 years since I’ve done a tournament!) Thanks a lot – Mark N., CFC # 103586
Hi Mark,
Yes, you’re in! See you Sept 1.
Best,
Marcus
Hi,
I noticed some people have asked for the pre-registered list without a reply; I would also like to know when it will come out. Deadline is approaching, and less than 2 weeks before the tournament.
Best,
Tyler
Please put me in the Crown section, as I requested when I entered. Thanks.
I assume sets and clocks are provided.
I’m travelling light.
My son Dorian Kang’s new rating is 2147, please help to put him into Crown section.
Hey,
I’m interested in participating in the Toronto Open Chess Championship.I have recently purchased a new CFC membership online at CFC’s official website. However, there was no immediate email from CFC. So, should I get my membership onsite with the 32$ for the junior membership already being paid online?
If so, how should I be able to register for the tournament given that I will obtain my membership onsite?
I am a seasoned chess player and would like to play in the U-1800 rated section given that my rating has already not been determined….
Your swift reply will be much appreciated given that today is the deadline for regular registration for the event.
Thanks!
ps. what is the difference between the junior (U18) and the Open sections? Will they be playing in separate rooms as though they are 2 different tournaments?
I am thinking which section to play in given that I am 17. My birth date is in Februray 2001
For those of you who did not join the last weekend tournament of ACC which was the 2018 Ontario Open, the hard working team of Marcus, Alex and Ted did a wonderful and exceptional job of chess organization providing players with new tournament size chess boards and pieces and chess clocks. Ample spaces between players. I was delighted and hope to experience similar environment with the 2018 Toronto Open. Congratulations ACC Team and Keep up the Good Job. Cheers!
Hi Marcus,
I see that there are players below the 2100 level playing in Crown. What is the requirement to play in the Crown section? Can anyone play in that section or do you have to be at least 2100 (playing-up within 100 pts)?
My rating is currently 2076, and I am interested in playing in the Crown section.
Kind Regards,
Malhar
Minimum is 2100 CFC.
I don’t understand how there are 2 registrants below 2100 who are in crown.
Recent CFC ratings and current FIDE ratings are also taken into consideration.
Hi again, I still haven’t decided whether or not I should play, and the final deadline has passed. Do I have the option to pay onsite?
Also, why are there 2 2000s in the Crown Section? Rating floor is 2100…
Thanks
Hello, can you please share what will be prizes for U2200 category, will there be any Cash Prizes?
Yes, there will be cash prizes. Total prize fund is projcted at $7000 with a top prize in the Crown of $1000. It won’t be that high in U2200, but it should still be a good prize. We’ll have the full prize fund breakdown soon once we see our final numbers.
What are the prizes for U1800?
My son, Noah Nathaniel Yuen, is registered in the U1800 section. His new rating is 1731. He would like to play up in the U2200 section.
Our last name is Yuen. Noah’s CFC# is 158470.
Please kindly put Fengxi Mao in U2200 if possible, since his newly updated rating is 1806.
Thanks.
Very good.
Hi, is it late to register now?
I want to join and play in all games.I don’t want “bye” in first round.
Hi, is it late for registration?
I want to register but I don’t want ‘bye’ in first round
Good morning Jabrayil,
We have on site registration this morning and a few more spots available. On site registration is not guaranteed a pairing for Round One and pairings have already been set for the top two sections, but we will try to get you in if you’re there early.
To all the chess players especially John Brown please join Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Beaubien in the VIP CFC title holders.
