Special event – October 31
In lieu of our regular slow-chess tournament, the Hallowe’en Rapid is a one-night six-round tournament – in one big section, at a time control of 9 min each with a 3-sec increment.
ACC regulars are joined by a few guests, including Goran Milicevic. In all, twenty-four players take part in the CFC quick-rated event.

The tournament winner is unrated Moises Cornelio with 5.5/6, and the U1700 prize goes to Shafkat Ali with 3.5/6. Congratulations, Moises and Shafkat!
Winners of $10 Tim Horton’s gift cards for best costume are Michael Humphreys, Shahla Jalali, and Ulli Diemer. Thanks to all!
Complete results are posted on the Chess-Results server
I’m in for the rapid, please register me. Thanks.
Great, William.
Me and Ivan won’t be coming to the rapid, please register us for the tournament starting Nov 6th. Thanks!
OK, Sergey.
When are the ratings going to be updated? It should’ve been updated this Wednesday
Yes, I saw that. I’ll ask the CFC.
Please sign me up for Hallowe’en Rapid Swiss as well as next regular club turnament.
Thank you,
Dragan Jevtic
OK, Dragan!
May I see the pre-registered list for this tournament? I am thinking of withdrawing if the average skill level is well below mine. Thanks.
I think most people are signing up on site. A few signed up in advance. Moises Cornelio signed up. I think he’s pretty strong. He’s been playing some blitz with Sergey Noritsyn the last couple weeks …
My expectations are usually standard rated 2000+ :)
Hopefully, we get many of the usual suspects out, and possibly a few surprises in the line-up! You never know who comes out of the woodwork for a rapid …
Some surprise visitors did show up. Top seed is Goran Milicevic!
Hi,
I would like to play in this tournament. I am not a member and not a rated player. Can I participate in this tournament?
If yes when is the tournament happening?
Regards,
Subash
Hi, Subash.
The tournament starts at 7:30. If you’re not a member, just show up before 7:00 so you’re paired for Round One. For non-members, there’s just a $15 drop-in fee. You can put this towards your club membership if you decide to join in a week or two.
You don’t have to have a rating, but the event is rated so you do have to be a CFC member. That’s the national federation and belonging to it allows you to play in rated events anywhere in the country. It’s $48 per year, and you can get it at our club as well.
Hope to see you tonight!
Best,
Marcus
Please register me for the Rapid.
OK, Arkadiy!
Hi I would like to withdraw since I have a Halloween party to attend. Thanks
You mean *another* Halloween party? OK, William. Have fun!
