The Battle of Toronto Invitational Chess Tournament 2012
Bob Armstrong organized the Battle of Toronto as a project to give mid-level tournament players like himself the chance to play for a FIDE rating. Perhaps it will be a model for other small FIDE-rated tournaments to come.
The tournament took place at Annex Chess Club, from October 15 to December 3.
Tyler Longo took first place after an upset victory in a late make-up game against the tournament leader Michael Dougherty. With the win, Tyler tied on points, and won the head-to-head tie-break to take the tournament. Congratulations, Tyler!
Bob is already talking about a Battle of Toronto II in 2013!
