The Chess Table Project

The outdoor chess tables in the park by the Metropolitan United Church at Queen and Church must be the most used outdoor chess area in Toronto. Players can be found playing chess in the park seven days a week, weather permitting.

Joel Dick, who ran for Councillor in Ward 27 in 2010, found out the tables to be so used that the players need to add another table. He didn’t win the election, but he has nevertheless launched a Chess Table Project, in partnership with the Lions Club of Toronto, to install another table.
