ACC “Ritz” Speed Tournament – July 4

A one-night 10-minute speed tournament will be held this coming Monday, before we get started with our new CFC-rated tournament on July 18. The tournament starts at 7:30. Come early to register, and don’t miss Wajdy Shebetah’s chess lecture at 7:00.

ACC closed – July 11

We’re closed for the 2011 Canadian Open Chess Championship, since many of our members will be participating in this 9-day tournament. Feel free to come down to Queen’s Quay and check all the action at the Harbour Castle Westin. Don’t miss the Canadian chess event of the year!

Visit by GM Dejan Bojkov – July 18

GM Bojkov will play casual chess with kids and adults, starting at 6:30 pm.

ACC Late Summer Swiss – July 18, July 25

A new 5-round CFC-rated club tournament is starting – one round every Monday night. The tournament round starts at 7:30 pm.

ACC closed – August 1

We’re closed for the August Civic Holiday, “Simcoe Day.”

ACC Late Summer Swiss (cont.) – August 8

Our ongoing CFC-rated club tournament resumes – one round every Monday night. The tournament round starts at 7:30 pm.

ACC Children’s Chess – July 4, July 18, July 25, August 8

6:30 to 8:30 pm: Yakos Spiliotopoulos, who has been leading our kids’ chess lessons for the past few weeks, is away on holiday, but our children’s programme (in its new group-lesson form) continues every Monday throughout the summer. Note that the club is closed July 11 and August 1.
